The Red Rocoto also known as the Tree Pepper is among the oldest of domesticated chili peppers and is native to Bolivia and Peru, but they are grown throughout all South America. The stems and leaves are hairy and the flowers have blue/violet petals. The fruits get 2-3 inches around and the seeds within the fruit are black. The species is more resistant to cold than other species.
