Habanero Pumpkin - (capsicum chinense)
The pumpkin habanero pepper is a cross between African and South American habanero peppers. It was developed by the Exotic Pepper Project at Rutgers University.
It ripens to a bright orangish yellow color and the fruits are smooth and slightly winkled. The peppers grow to the size of a golf ball. The capsaicin level is high enough to pack some bite, but does not overwhelm. Compared to a traditional Habanero this Pumpkin variety is very mild. It’s for people who want a little bit of a bite but don’t feel like they want smoke coming out of their ears.
Heat level: 30,000 - 50,000(SHU) Scoville Heat Units – Medium Hot.
